Work In Progress Audio

The audio is slowly beginning to take shape, concentrating less on the overall experience that ranges from nine night to actual burial but rather mainly focusing on the funeral procession within the church.

Sample one begins to approach the idea of atmosphere that i would like to further explore. By this i mean the intangible power associations that are embedded within the deceased body and the greater power that awaits below. The recorder fortunately captured those few moments that become the most interesting aspect, the warbling of the choir, the unknown bouts of whistling dispersed throughout the audio, the amplified wind. With the use of various music software programs i hope to further exploit this moment and use the momentum of the unknown and the ritualistic to inform the rest of the piece.

Sample 2 continues along the same trajectory but with this i have hesitations. The moments that the audio work successfully for me occurs when the voices in the foreground are amplified, they swell and burst over the choir that sing in the background. Similarly, when the voices of the women in the choir clashes with the recorder, the unbearable nature of that sound intrigues me. What becomes problematic (for now at least) is the monotony of the singing, the emotionless nature of the voices. It is imperative to break this up.
